This sample is the result of..

• chance-buying a faulty aiwa microcassette recorder on the chinese used market for 10 RMB
• putting my microcassette in with no slack and the tape "finished" at the end of the reel
• the magic combination of whatever state this thing is in [thoughts: worn out belt, rusted contacts obstructing "clean" electrical flow, ancient capacitors] plus the weird strain on the capistan due to putting the tape in wrong produced the WEIRDEST effect

...a loud squeal that did not come from the headphone output, but did come from the speakers and would fluctuate wildly when the player was handheld and/or swung around.
